One question to ask yourself

Is this something I've gotten through before?

Journal on this - the thing you're struggling with right now. Have you made it through similar before? How did that look? What did you do? Can you use this as evidence that, yet again, you'll move through it? I wonder if your suffering comes most from being in it, or from being angry that you're in it again?

Something to consider

Resentment builds when you hold unrealistic expectations of how others should behave

Regardless of someone's actions being 'right' or 'wrong', I'm at a point in my life where I'm beginning to realise that on the whole, it doesn't matter to my peace. What matters is acknowledging my expectations of them, that they were MY mistake to begin with, and letting them go (easier said than done of course....).  We can't change someones actions, only how we frame them and move through them (and the boundaries we set around them).

One thing I'd tell my younger self.

Your ego will have you crying over a closed door that has nothing behind it

Relationships. Work. 'Opportunities. I wonder where your mind goes when you read this statement. Mine went to the red flags of yore, what about you?

One thing to try this week

Tea & toast

A food combination I've had daily since I gave birth in August. One in fact, I'm enjoying this evening as I write to you. As a Brit, I recognise the power of tea and toast. As a post-diet culture survivor. I recognise the difficulty that tea, toast (2 slices, freshly baked, not trackable toast), honey and butter would have presented (especially when not training...). Tea and toast is comfort. It's nourishing. It is food for the soul. And I wonder, how often you allow yourself food for comfort? Find your tea and toast this week (if not tea and toast, then what?) - enjoy it more than once,, maybe gift yourself with a week of this one true comfort food. Let the comfort envelop you. Bring back butter. Bring back soul food without the shame of all emotional eating being 'bad'.

A few things to tell you...

I was honoured to appear on Ailey Jolie's podcast this week - in this body. I love Ailey and everything she stands for, and if you read these emails, you probably will too. We dismantled diet culture and spoke about how food can allow us to become more at home in our bodies. Listen here

I realise In recommend eating more intuitively a lot without having actually guided you much on how - so I do that on last weeks podcast

What to do when family and friends don't support you & nutrition for post op recovery with Em on EIQ this week

The waitlist for binge breakthrough for early 2025 has 158 people on it so far - I'm opening spaces only to 120 people. If you struggle with binge eating, get on the waitlist now to ensure you can apply for a first space on the 8 week healing programme

One more thing...

Please share your favourite stuff.

Thank you all for continuing to share your favourite Monday email quotes. I see them all. I know how much I love seeing impactful quotes from strangers, so it means a lot that you allow me to hopefully be that person for someone else. f there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
