The weekly perspective

One question to ask yourself

Is this worthy of the amount of energy and time I'm giving to this?

Journal on this - you might have heard of the 5x5 rule - if you come across an issue take a moment to think whether or not it will matter in 5 years. If it won't, don't spend more than 5 minutes stressing out about it. I think this is a little reductionist, and prefer the way Brene frames it: "“Practice thinking about the temporary nature of most setbacks. Will this issue be a big deal in five minutes? Five hours? Five days? Five months? Five years?”

Something to consider

"True deep-pile contentment is found when you re-enchant the everyday" - Catherine Gray

The goal posts seem to keep moving further away and this constantly moving target is moving only because you're moving the damn thing. Constantly feeling like you're not as happy as other people, that you should be doing more, travelling more, seeing more, earning more, loving more. Something I see a lot of in my industry is the demonising of average and the glorification of never being content, unless that contentment looks like fast cars or new countries. I don't know about you, but I'd rather find my contentment in the re-enchantment of the everyday.

One thing I'd tell my younger self.

You will never have this version of yourself again. Slow down and be with her (him, them).

Oh it's hard. But even in a year, you'll look back with fondness about the beauty of this time, the joy or the lessons learned in the hardship. You'll reflect on how much younger you were, naive or energetic, stuck in your own head or courageous, or all of these things. Slow down and drink it in whilst you can.

One thing to try this week

Be overzealous in your compliments

If you think something kind, say it. If you have a lovely thought, share it.

A few things to tell you...

The next intake of binge breakthrough is opening spaces this Friday. Spaces will probably only go to those on the waitlist (which isn't the same as this email list). Get on the waitlist now if you're even considering it.

Do you struggle to take time off? Days off? Holidays? Especially as a business owner? Listen to this

If you work night shifts or associate your self-worth with your body image, listen to this

Want a free optimism 25 minute morning meditation track by me? Get it here.

What are the benefits of fasting outside of a calorie deficit? Find out the truth here

Are you living in the north east (of England?) Anna and Steph from ETPHD are part of an incredible IWD event at Studio 6 gym (a gym I REALLY rate) alongside some incredible speakers on 9th March. It's all about women's health and mindset so if you're nearby I guarantee you'll get so much from it. Get more info and tickets here.

One more thing...

Please share your favourite stuff.

Thank you all for continuing to share your favourite Monday email quotes. I see them all. I know how much I love seeing impactful quotes from strangers, so it means a lot that you allow me to hopefully be that person for someone else. f there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
