The weekly perspective
One question to ask yourself
What was the last hard thing you didn't make it through?
You've overcome everything that had the potential to break you so far. Found found strength you didn't know you had. Built new paths you didn't know existed. You've patched your heart together 10 times over. The dents in your pride have smoothed over. Whatever is hard right now, as you answer this question, recognise that the answer, I know, is 'there isn't one'. You've got through them all.
Something to consider
“You are precisely as big as what you love and precisely as small as what you allow to annoy you.” - James Anton Wilson
With this in mind, how would it change your thoughts from today?
One thing I'd tell my younger self.
Clinging on to the ‘real them’ that 'other people don’t see', because you like that version better, doesn’t make the 'other them' any less real. When people show you who they are, believe them..
I'd have saved myself a lot of heartbreak (and to be fair, a lot of great stories) if I'd believed people when they showed me who they were. I never really understood what Maya Angelou was talking about when I first heard her say that. Now I get it. Stop excusing people for their behaviours under the guise of your kindness.
One thing to try this week
Find something you've no motivation towards (may I recommend changing your bed sheets, doing your emails, prepping your food for tomorrow). Commit to doing it for 5 minutes.
This gives your brain an easy win and builds motivation over time. It leads to far more productivity than overthinking and putting off a task that realistically, would take much less energy by just doing it in the first place.
A few things to tell you...
Can you improve your body image alongside having physique goals? Do you feel confident in your authentic voice and showing your personality as a coach? We covered way more topics than this on the latest EIQ Nutrition podcast. Listen to it here.
Found myself a lot in conversations around bodybuilding recently. If you've ever been tempted, or find yourself wanting to get pretty pretty lean, then listen to this podcast I did with Christian Chapman a few months ago (we also spoke a lot about business and some of what I said might surprise you).
One more thing...
Please share your favourite stuff.
I'm really trying to have a more positive impact this year (it's where this Monday email spawned from). If there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
