The weekly perspective

One question to ask yourself

Am I showing enough imagination about what a good life might look like?

Journal on this - when you consider your 'best' life, are you making space for the myriad possibilities available to you? Or are you keeping yourself small, dreaming small, keeping yourself safe from failure?

Something to consider

The saddest form of success is realising that the goals you achieved weren't yours at all. In the short run, pursuing other people's dreams earns approval. In the long run, it's a recipe for regret. A meaningful purpose doesn't maximise your status. It matches your values.

Adam Grant shared this over the weekend. It's a lovely reminder to check in with your values. There is not way of possibly living a peaceful, contented life without knowing your values, and without ensuring that your goals align with those values. If you don't know yours, I've made a (non exhaustive) list for you here. Don't choose values based on what you should do, but what's actually important to you? Imagine someone looked at your life choices, could they guess your values from the life you're living?

One thing I'd tell my younger self.

Not knowing what will happen next also means that anything could.

And isn't that an incredible reminder for the uncertainty ahead?

One thing to try this week

Be ok with good enough.

You might notice this email is a little less wordy than usual. That's because my brain is somewhere in my feelings right now, navigating some goings on that aren't for this world yet. But I made a commitment to you and to myself to share something with you every Monday, in the hope that it brings something helpful to your week, however small. This isn't my best ever email, but it's my good enough email. I have faith that you make space for my imperfections, so why don't you give yourself and others the same grace?

Not to mention, you get a hell of a lot more done when you allow good enough. Consistent imperfection > inconsistent perfection.

A few things to tell you...

What do you do when you enjoy overeating? How to tackle or nothing thinking? How do you overcome limiting beliefs? Does your medication impact your fat loss? We answered this and more on this weeks EIQ Nutrition podcast

Do you struggle with rest? Feel guilty whenever you do? Always working more, exercising more and in general, does the idea of stillness make you want to vomit? I've made something for you here. Let me know once you've read it, implemented it and changed something as a result...

One more thing...

Please share your favourite stuff.

I'm really trying to have a more positive impact this year (it's where this Monday email spawned from). If there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
