One question to ask yourself

What would the decision be if you loved yourself?

Recovering people pleasers unite. If you loved yourself like you love others in your life, what would that decision be? Journal on this, if there's a decision or choice you're struggling with - what is the most self-loving decision I can make? Is the guilt I feel about making it, a fair and valid emotion or a result of my need to be liked and please others?

Something to consider

“If you unwilling or unable to pivot and adapt to the incessant fluctuating tides of life, you will not enjoy being here”. - Will Smith

Will's adaptation of the Buddhist principle of impermanence hits different. Your incessant need to know the outcome, to treat roadblocks and deviations as failures, to seek control in the uncontrollable - that's your source of suffering. The pain is the situation, the suffering is your lack of willingness to accept that these are the vicissitudes of a human life.

One thing I'd tell my younger self.

Success is just growth.

Success is not an end point. That job you always wanted, the marriage, the kids, the number in the bank. Success is finding happiness as you make progress, as you continue to fail, continue to grow. Day to day growth - that's success.

One thing to try this week

Change your screensaver to a picture of you as a kid.

You are the 10 year old you. Reminding yourself of that, in every action you take, every thought you have, is a simple way to develop your self-compassion. If you're up for it, screenshot it and tag me on your stories with it. I'm all for cute pics and incredible realisations, so hit me with both.

A few things to tell you...

Wonder if you should time your meals throughout the day? How should you manage your blood glucose? How can you best support clients who overeat when you've tried everything in your toolbox? Listen to the latest EIQ Nutrition podcast here.

Do you have PCOS? And/or coach people who do? You need to listen to this

One more thing...

Please share your favourite stuff.

I'm really trying to have a more positive impact this year (it's where this Monday email spawned from). If there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
