The weekly perspective

One question to ask yourself

If every day was like today, would I be where I want to be next year?

Sometimes these types of questions are lost in productivity self help books. But this relates to any part of life. Want to stop disordered eating? What steps did you take today? Want a more fulfilling romantic life? What steps did you take today? Want to grow your business? You get the idea.

Something to consider

“Having an identity that fits into the dominant culture protects you.” - Liz Plank

Is it any wonder, then, that you notice fear in authenticity? That you struggle to vocalise your needs, make choices that both feel right for you, and opposing to the 'shoulds' you tell yourself? Familiarity often feels comfortable. That doesn't necessarily mean right, and leaning into our discomforts is required to do something different.

One thing I'd tell my younger self.

Give yourself some grace.

Oh how life would have been different if I'd given myself the grace to be wrong, to make mistakes, to act like an idiot, stumble in my productivity. Relax a little.  Because grace is knowing that you're doing the best you can from where you are, and that when we know better, we do better. C'est la vie.

One thing to try this week

Notice the subtle opportunities for love woven into your daily life.

The micro connections. The call with your mum you rush through. The 30 seconds in the morning with your partner before the day kicks in. The laugh of your daughter at your incredible wit and humour. The safety of your best friend. I think of love like an action (I most probably read it somewhere), where are you creating it?

A few things to tell you...

You need to listen to this podcast I did with the magical human that is Ailey Jolie if you're even remotely interested in dating, relationships, romantic and self love - trust me. Listen to it here

Taking extreme ownership, boredom eating, and skipping breakfast. We covered way more topics than this on the latest EIQ Nutrition podcast. Listen to it here.

One more thing...

Please share your favourite stuff.

I'm really trying to have a more positive impact this year (it's where this Monday email spawned from). If there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
