The weekly perspective
One question to ask yourself
What did I promise myself for this year, that I'd need to start before we're halfway through?
If I finish the year in this same trajectory, how will I feel?
What one action will I take this week to ensure my 2023 mid-point feels aligned?
I've given you 3 today because we're nearing halfway through the year (and you know I'm going to be coming back to you in June with bigger reflections that this). Get ahead with some preliminary redirections and ensure you're feeling strong at the 2023 mid-way check point.
Something to consider
"Life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be lived."
M Scott Peck
One thing I'd tell my younger self.
It’s easier to be comfortable and complain than it is to change.
Doing things differently, doing hard things - they are by definition, different and hard. But you've got to stop using that as a reason to avoid it. You know what's harder that the discomfort of change? Staying in the same unhappy position you're for any longer. Avoiding the work on your relationship with food because it's 'hard', picking the same man in different clothing time and again because something else feels 'uncertain', avoiding making healthful habit changes because it all feels too overwhelming - I get that it's easier than the alternative, but it doesn't mean it's right.
One thing to try this week
Keep a done list.
If you're like me, you've got to-do lists nailed (if you struggle with overwhelm, I recommend keeping 3 lists: urgent; soon; at some point in the future). But one really cool tool to use if you constantly feel like you're catching you tail, always things to do, then make a done list today. Start with it blank, and write down everything you achieve today. This helps reframe all the fab work you're doing, all the worthwhile life stuff you're creating space for and encourages you to celebrate the small wins (which actually helps us achieve more).
A few things to tell you...
I've put together 20 of the things I'd tell myself in a podcast, with a little more explanation and story time. Find that here.
That's it today. When I take a holiday, that means an actual holiday, so shockingly, my output has been a little lower the past week...
One more thing...
Please share your favourite stuff.
I'm really trying to have a more positive impact this year (it's where this Monday email spawned from). If there's something you really relate to or know someone who'd benefit from something in this email, please share it and pay it forward. Words are magical, and if I've learned anything from writing these emails to you for years, you never know when someone needs to hear the exact thing you've got to say.
